AT WHAT AGE DID YOU BECAME A CHRISTIAN?
I was 10 years old in Albany, Georgia. I attended Byne Memorial Bible Church and was the third son of four children. The community had put a city-wide crusade together, and during one of the services I felt God speak to me and I responded. It was a very easy, natural decision, and one I am very proud to have made.

WHERE DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL/COLLEGE?
I attended Georgia Southern College at that time, now Georgia Southern University. I had returned from service in the U.S. Army and was ready to settle down and look at my future.

TO WHOM ARE YOU MARRIED?
In 1979, I married Sarah Lane Crouch. We dated for six months, got engaged, and married. She comes from a strong North Carolina Baptist family. Her grandfather was pastor of First Baptist Church Asheville for 20 years and then Executive Secretary for the North Carolina Baptist convention for 20 years. Her father pastored Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte for 28 years and her brother Bill is a Baptist minister and president of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN?
We have two beautiful girls. Meredith is 28 years of age and is a registered nurse. She is the mother of our granddaughter, Saylor, who is two. Our other daughter, Sarah Michael, is 26 and is a construction management engineer in Savannah.

AT WHAT POINT DID YOU FEEL THE CALL TO MINISTRY?
I was driving on I-95 in the summer of 1977, working for a private company when I felt the Lord speak to me. I made a decision to enter seminary in the winter of 1978. At that time, I looked at every door as a door of opportunity. What a joy it has been!

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR FREE TIME?
I love to hunt and fish, ride my Harley Davidson motorcycle, and officiate high school basketball.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF?
Outgoing and fun to be with. Takes life one day at a time.
